Even a cursory glance at a Dragonball Z episode guide will reveal that this series had some truly unique and brilliant storylines. Perhaps that is why it remains a series that still finds a new audience year in and year out while other anime series fade into the background of TV trivia. The history and format of the series is quite interesting to look at. Dragon ball Z is definitely one of the all-time most popular animated series ever produced. That is certainly saying a lot when you consider how many brilliant anime television series have been made over the years. Among them was the original Dragon Ball which was produced by Toei Animation. When the Dragon Ball series ended, it was immediately followed by Dragon Ball Z which debuted in 1989. Traditionally, television in Japan follows a different pattern than in the USA. Rather than allowing a series to jump the shark, it will have a finite run and then be cancelled. The series will return in a new format in the form of a different "sequel like" series. Dragonball Z can be considered somewhat similar to this concept. Ironically, many will say that Dragonball Z surpasses the quality of its predecessor. A statement such as that can be considered arguable since different fans will have their own unique favorite series. However, you would be very hard pressed to find someone that did not think this series truly was one of the finest anime ventures ever produced. A Dragonball Z episode guide is not an easy thing to compile. As fans of the series will note, it ran 9 seasons and featured close to 300 episodes. That was an incredibly long run for the series as conventional wisdom would dictate that it would have run out of creative juice far earlier. While this was a series that was best at the beginning, the later seasons were still creative and enjoyable. Such creativity certainly contributed to ability for the show to maintain an audience for the number of years that it did. Each season had its own saga which was based on the original manga series. While changes were made in the adaptation, the sagas were overall faithful to the original stories that they were based upon. Those that purchase the boxed sets of the television series are well advised to also read the original mangas. They are quite entertaining and truly are innovative. The television series is also incredibly innovative and certainly played a significant role in helping to further cement the international popularity of anime. If the series were not as excellent as it was, we would not still be talking about in glowing terms long after it disappeared from the airwaves. Now you can use your Dragonball Z episode guide to help you re-watch your favorite episodes as if they were airing for the first time. |
