| California and Malibu in particular inspire visions of glamorous movie stars and sandy beaches, which is probably why homes in the area fetch a hefty price. Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous is probably the best one liner to describe the Malibu area and with little wonder there are miles of beautiful sandy beaches and some of the best weather you could ever ask for.
Weather California is known for its pleasant weather and in this area of the country annual temperatures rarely dip below 50 degrees on a cold night. It is little wonder with all this going for it that Malibu is the destination for Hollywood’s finest. Malibu and the surrounding area’s climate could be described as nearly perfect, 338 days of sunshine every year and very little rainfall equals a happy place to live! To Do One thing is certain; if you are going to visit Malibu and enjoy the weather, a visit to the beach is going to be a part of the fun! There are multiple beaches you can enjoy including:
If you are not real crazy about acres of sand between your toes (and other bodily areas), visit an area like Topanga State Beach, which also offers 36 miles of trails, live oaks and breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. You may also enjoy crumbling sandstone formations, cliff gardens and a gorgeous waterfall. For those looking for fun in the sun, sand and waves check out Surfrider Beach. Swimming, diving, surfing and fishing are just a few activities you can enjoy. Most beach access ways are easily accessible via the Pacific Coast Highway and parking is reasonably priced. Living in Malibu Living in Malibu is not for the faint of heart or light of wallet. Most homes in the area are priced well over a million dollars, though due to the recent economic crisis many homes are down around the $600,000 range. Of course, do not expect to pick up a home of the stars for this paltry sum, Cher’s home is currently on the market to the tune of $45 million! One issue this summer paradise does have is wildfires. This area is particularly susceptible to fire and many homes have been destroyed over the years. Mudslides, though less common are also a concern. The weather may be great in Malibu but there are still a few downsides to living in the area. Conclusion If you are independently wealthy and searching for a location to settle that has great weather, beaches and stars shop at the local grocery store, Malibu is definitely a place to consider. From a single-family ranch in the late 1800’s to a glitzy beachfront delight today, the area has plenty of history and glamour for the most discerning of tastes.
